Good morning! This is the part of
fall I really like; mornings where the grass is frozen enough that I can wear
no socks in my crocs to take the canine girls out for their walk. If my feet
don’t get wet, they don’t get as cold and I like that. Of course, some areas
are more protected than others, such as the west side of the house, and the
grass was just wet there—no frost or ice.
We had General Conference this
weekend. That’s when meetings are broadcast from Salt Lake and we get to hear
talks from our general authorities. There were some very good talks that I will
comment on within the next few days.
Yesterday morning I made a macaroni
salad to take to church for the pot luck (I’m still not sure why they are
called linger longers here) between conference sessions. Laura made some cake
but we ended up not taking it. That made the morning busy. We went to a baptism
also in the morning. One of Seth’s friends was baptized by his brother who just
returned from his mission. That was pretty nice. It also happened to be his
(the boy being baptized, not his brother) birthday which is really cool.
Some of us ended up coming home for
the second session. Paul had actually stayed home because someone was going to
be coming to pick up George and Fred (who have a new home now—they’re living at
a petting zoo near Boston). He just stayed home and listened rather than get to
church late which makes sense to me. The girls all wanted to stay so Walter
volunteered to give them a ride home. Cedric wanted to stay as well. It was
hard to tell him he couldn’t stay when he’d been very good and the reason I
wanted to go home was due to the behavior of his younger brothers but there was
no ride available and Walter only had room for three in his car (it’s a toss-up
as to whose car is fuller of stuff—Walter or Adam). I wanted to go home because
it does me no good to even attempt to pay attention when boys are making noise
and generally making it hard to. I figured I’d be able to listen better at
home. So, the boys and I went home and Paul soon followed (he’d come open to
staying or leaving after the first session was over). Funny thing is that Paul
wanted to go through some of the stuff from Matthew’s apartment which meant
that for at least half an hour I wasn’t able to pay attention like I’d’ve liked
to.
Not really much to tell. Kind of
low key weekend. And Paul has to work today because the guys in the back do and
so Blair wants Paul to work because they need more money. Never mind that in
New England, today is a holiday and that most salons take Monday off and that
Monday is the slowest day of the week for Paul and that he got the day off last
year.
Have a wonderful day!
