This is what I do to break up the excitement when I am reading a chapter of phlebotomy (or anything else that might be equally entertaining).
1/2 cup sugar. |
In the pot. |
Almost 1/2 cup cocoa powder. |
In the pot. |
Salt. Anyone else out there measure it this way? |
Chipotle! Ahhhhh! I wish I could adequately describe the way this stuff smells when you open the bag. It is, quite simply, heavenly. |
1/2 teaspoon of chipotle powder. |
In the pot.
All dry ingredients are now assembled. |
Stirring of the dry ingredients. |
Adding water--between 1/3 and 1/2 cup. |
Stirring. |
1 quart milk (goat, of course!). |
The bubbly mass! |
Adding the milk. |
Stirring. |
Stirring some more. |
The end. And then I drink it while I'm reading Heritage by Countee Cullen which is rather a good poem. |
And there you have it. The
perfect cup of cocoa.
Pam's Perfect Hot Cocoa
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
between 1/3 and 1/2 cup cocoa powder
dash salt
1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
1/3 to 1/2 cup hot water
1 quart milk
Instructions:
Combine all dry ingredients in at minimum a 1 3/4 quart pot. Whisk in hot water. Bring to rolling boil over medium-medium high heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat a tad and boil for approximately 2 minutes, ideally stirring constantly. Whisk in milk. Heat until desired hotness has been achieved, stirring occasionally. Pour into cup or mug and enjoy!
PS You can leave out the chipotle powder and add some instant coffee. Or stir with a peppermint stick. Or add any desired flavoring (about 1 teaspoon) such as vanilla, rum, brandy, orange, etc.
Would a squirt of whipped cream (or cream) put this over the top?

Sounds good to me. As long as it's real. (Can't have fake cow with real goat, you know?) :)
