Our Day at the Beach in Pictures

This isn't very clear but it is does show where we were (at the little red pointer). That, in case you cannot tell, is in Rhode Island. We were very near Connecticut and New York.

This is a closer view.
Cedric awaiting departure.

Nick and Joanna awaiting departure.

Laura fueling up.

Seth awaiting departure.

Joanna's feet. I'm not sure what they're doing.

Clouds on the way.

Our first view of the ocean.

A lovely little cloud.

A lovely little cloud up close.

Cedric and Joseph eating lunch.

Amena and Laura eating lunch. But where's the food?

Joseph and Seth testing the water.

Joseph and Seth playing in the water.
Cedric, Seth and Joseph.

Part of Paul, the boys and Laura.

Joanna, Amena and Nick at our home base.

Cedric and Joseph.

Joseph and Seth.

Amena with Laura hiding behind her.

Cedric.

Cedric again.

Joanna, Laura, Amena and Nick.

Joseph.

Seth, Paul and Joseph.

Seth.

Amena, Laura and Cedric.

Nick and Joanna. Joanna doesn't want this one posted on Facebook so here is the only place you'll get to see it unless you somehow manage to get access to my computer.

Seth.

Joseph.

Nick, Joanna, Joseph, Amena, Laura and Cedric.

The girls.

The breachway. I got the flow of water in video while the tide was going out. It's amazing how fast the current was. I should have gotten video when the tide was coming in as well but didn't think to.

Rocks. I love the way the horizon is curved at the ocean.

The jetty. The people on the other side had to drive quite a ways around to get there unless they went by boat.

A little crab (no bigger than a quarter, legs included).

Rocks and water. I just love pictures like this.

Another of rocks and water. I like the green as well.

Rocks and water.

Rocks and water.
More rocks and water. I like the breaking waves.

Joseph: Mr. Happypants.

Joseph chillin' in the sand.

Cedric might be a water bug. I'll have to let you know about that for sure later.

Seth now chillin', Joseph making sure he's doing it right.

Cedric drinking lemonade.

Drinking lemonade from the back. Just not the same effect.

Paul looking at the wreckage.

Now looking at the picture taker (which was Joanna in this case).

What do you think? A wrecked dock? A wrecked ship? Ship sounds better. Certainly is more adventurous.

Seth flying down the sand.

Seth running up the sand while the waves try to get Cedric.

Mr. Squinty.

Laura and Amena. And, yes, that is me back there.

Joanna making a hole for Joseph to be buried in.

Seth running. Which he never does.

Seth looking for awesome rocks. Another unknown activity for him.

Cedric's newly sculpted by Laura body.

Joanna smoothing out the cracks made by Joseph who would not stop breathing to prevent them from happening.

Joanna and her happy captive, Joseph.

Seth looking a bit serious.

Nick up to his neck. Watch out for the blue crab! It's getting close.

Joanna, Amena and Joseph. Kinda just relaxing (the sand was warm).

The girls chillin'. Doing a mighty fine job of it, too.

The girls eating cookies and grapes. And still doing a good job.

Joseph watching the crabs in the pink bucket. They didn't like pink; it made them crabby. Or maybe it was captivity.

Joseph posing. He's just so darn cute and easy to get good pictures of. Sometimes. On getting pictures. He's always cute. Well, almost.

See what I mean? He's waiting for the waves to get close here.
Joseph is taking after his brothers: he loves to run.

The girls were good at laying there.

On the jetty. That's Paul in the middle and Joseph is the little person to the left. It later occurred to me that Paul was something like the green giant.

Block Island is the land mass you can see on the horizon.

One of the many crabs. This is one of the ones that got fed to the seagulls later.

What do you know, here it is. I figure that although my children were feeding the seagulls, which is not kosher, at least they were feeding them their natural diet.

The boys. They had so much fun. I just love these boys.

Amena reading on the life guard chair.

The boys again. And a seagull. They stole our bag of chips and tried to steal other things. Very annoying.
Cedric standing on the wreckage.

Lining up for pictures.

Laura.

Almost ready!

And here we are! Joseph, Seth, Cedric, Amena, Joanna and Laura. The gaps are noticeable. Daniel would be taller than Laura and one day the three boys will most likely be taller than the girls.

The girls. I love my girls!

Joseph and Seth. This piece of wood would wiggle when the water hit it just right.

The girls and Cedric. And Seth's head.

Joanna and Laura. "Land, ho!"

The girls again.

Miss Amena.

Joseph, Seth and Paul.

Laura, Joanna and Nick. He was being camera shy at times.

Joseph at water's edge.

Nick and Joanna. Love the towel.

Laura watching for big waves. We've decided that they're addictive.

Amena being Amena (namely turning her back to the camera).

Seth and Cedric catching the waves. You know, before they crash.

Like this one. Notice the difference in depth.

Joseph running again. Does he ever stop?

Joanna. A bit sun burnt and getting ready to go.

Amena getting ready to go. She's so darn cute it makes me sick.

Joseph and his towel.

Laura on the way home looking studious. Looks can be deceiving, obviously.

Seth on the way home.

Joanna on the way home. Love this one.
Clouds on the way home. I took it out the window so the antenna is in the way but otherwise it's pretty good.

This one was actually taken before we left the beach.
And such was our day at the beach. I'm sorry to say Nick on the lounge chair did not get captured. It was hilarious. He took it out in the water because Paul said it needed to be rinsed off (it had collected spiderwebs in the screen house) so Nick took it out in the water and sat on it. The waves would go over him and a couple of times knock him over or to the side. I laughed too much and started coughing and had to get out but it was about time to go anyway so it was okay.

There was a family near us. One of the boys threw a rock at a seagull and hit it hard on a wing. The poor thing couldn't get up and was obviously hurt. Eventually, it was able to fly off but it was still pretty obvious that it wasn't going to make it. Cedric and/or Seth saw the boy throw the rock and Paul told the mom that the boy looked a lot like hers. When she questioned him, he denied it. When I got back and heard the story, I told the boys they'd better never do something like that. Seagulls may be annoying sometimes, but they can be easily shooed off and do not need to be hurt. Nick didn't know it was her boy who had done it and was talking to her about the bird. It was interesting listening to what she had to say about the boy who did it.

Next time we need to try the other beach because there are fresh water showers there. Then we will have pictures of Paul in the water who did not want to drive home sticky.

I hope you've enjoyed a look into our day. We are looking forward to going again.
